Helping Dora Burns for her IN:SITE Project

Work by Dora Burns

I've been to Birmingham this week for the first time!
It was for helping my friend Dora Burns to make her site specific work at Birmingham Cathedral.
About the work please have a look at IN:SITE Festival.

Since this August I've been living in her place in London and Sussex, Dora and me are now family and co-workers in her garage. I was very happy to be involved to her project as an assistant.

I thought I was always an independent worker, not keen to team-work. But this time I'm learning a lot from her, liking team-work and our improvised uniform!

We ombre-d our aprons in the end.

Inspirational things

Having been making self-directed films for my current fashion project and watching many films for its research, I found out the early 20century was a golden age of art films.

I loooooove this film, The Return to Reason by Man Ray, 1923.
A mixture of texture, light, illustration, object and figure all in black and white.

Dots by Norman McLaren, 1940.
 Impacts of sound.
How the sound applies to the movement of circles and lines.

Performance by Annabelle, 1894-1897.
I also broadened my research to performing arts.
This film shows exactly what I want to try in this project.
Movements of body and fabric, transition of colours.

MY FIRST FILM

This is a film I've made for the first time ever.
I'm working for a fashion project in my course now and this is how I started its research.
Filmed, directed, edited by me in Seven Sisters in Feb! It was dead freezing.
Hope you enjoy it.
